1. How do I register my music?

For most artists and labels, your music is probably already getting registered. The following companies automatically register all their content with Audible Magic: Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music, EMI, The Orchard, IRIS, IODA, BFM, INGrooves, Beggars, Because, and others.

If you are a member of either Tunecore or Merlin, you may use MyRightsView to register your content. You will need to use one of the following links:

Merlin Members: www.myrightsview/merlin

Tunecore Members: www.myrightsview/tunecore

2. What other alternatives do I have?

a. MyRightsView – This option is best if you have a small number of songs (< 100) to register

b. Via a Partner – we work with aggregators and distributors such as Consolidated Industries who will help manage and register your music with us.

c. Via our toolkit – if you have your own content management system, you may want to integrate our toolkit with your content management system. This makes the most sense if you have thousands or more songs to register and manage.

d. Send us your CDs – for this option, there is a minimum fee of $1,000 plus $2 for each CD you send us.

3. How can I tell if my content has been registered?

Using myRightsView, upload some of your tracks. We will see if we can find a match in our database. If it hasn’t been registered, then you will have the ability to register it yourself within 2 months of upload.

4. How much does it cost to register?

Nothing if you are covered by a major label, independent label, aggregator, or distributor that is under agreement with Audible Magic.

5. What happens after I register my content?

Once your content is registered in Audible Magic’s Global Registry, we help monetize and protect your content. Replicators use our Replicheck Service to ensure they are not pressing CDs or DVDs with unauthorized content. Sites like MySpace, Facebook, Dailymotion and others use our Content Identification services to identify content they’ve licensed they can monetize as well as prevent unlicensed content from being uploaded to their websites without your consent. Your content is also protected on P2P networks like iMesh, or over P2P protocols on ISP networks and on University and College campuses. Some collective societies use our services to monitor Internet and broadcast radio in order to identify what music has been played so they can determine royalty payouts.

6. How do I enable monetization and buy-links on sites such as MySpace?

The first step is to make sure your content is registered with us. Then, if you have licensed your music to MySpace or other sites we work with, then the monetization will automatically be enabled.

7. If I’m registered with Audible Magic, will it work with YouTube?

No, you will need to contact Youtube directly.

8. How does content identification work?

A fingerprint is taken of an unknown piece of audio or video content. That fingerprint is then matched against Audible Magic’s Global Reference Registry of fingerprints for master recordings. If a match is found, information on song title, album, artist, ISRC, etc. is returned along with a business rule on how to treat the content. Read more about our technology at www.audiblemagic.com

9. What file formats can I use to register my songs?

We handle a large number of file formats such as mp3, wav, wma, etc. Since we use your uploaded file to generate a master reference fingerprint, we expect CD-quality files.
